The main character, a young boy named Sora Akizuki, confesses his love to Miya Fuwa, a girl he has been in love with for a long time but has been rejected from. This is the beginning of the story. When Sora finds out that Miya is attracted to another person, he goes to the dubious "Trialing Club," of which he is president, to see if he is the right person for her. In the first episode, Suzukaze, the Trialing Club's president, explains why the club was founded and reveals the Trialing Club's actual activities, which are hard to imagine from its name.

The kids agreed happily at first, but soon they began to find the game horrifying, not only because of its realism but also for the first fatality among them happened right after their first victory. Worse yet, they had no idea how to stop or leave the "game."
